3. To know that God sent His Son who provided salvation.

When our first parents, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God, sin entered into the world. They passed on their sinful nature to the whole creation. Therefore, you and I are sinners before God’s sight. Romans 3:23 affirms “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (NLT)

Sin has negative consequences in your life. If you continue living a sinful life, its final destiny is death. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NLT) Death, in the Bible sense, means going to hell when you die, which is also being referred to as eternal death. It also means eternal separation from God.

But, don’t despair. There is still a way out! Although you deserve to be punished by going to hell when you die, through God’s great love, He spares you from eternal damnation. He provided a way out by sending His Son Jesus to die in your place! In fact, Romans 5:8 guarantees God’s love, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (NLT)

The best “love” verse in the Bible is John 3:16. It is the heart of the Bible. “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (NLT)

However, Romans 10:9-10 requires more than believing, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.“ (NLT) It is, therefore, clear that in order to be saved (meaning, to become a real Christian who goes straight to Heaven when you die) you need to confess AND believe.

As far as God is concerned, He wants to forgive your sins, to rescue you from the dominion of sin, and to transfer you into His Son’s kingdom. This is the real essence SALVATION. Colossians 1:13-14 says, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (NIV)

Accept Jesus in your life, make Him as your Lord and Savior, ask for forgiveness of your sins, and God’s best is all for you. Father in Heaven, I thank that I now understand Your perfect plan for my life. Due to my numerous sins, I deserve to get punished. But because of Your great love for me, You sent Your Son Jesus here on earth to die in my place. Father, forgive all my sins. From now on, Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I invite Him to take control of my life. I also believe that You raised Him from the dead. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
